These murals were painted for the walls of the Garden Cafe situated in the basement of the hotel. Inspired by the name of the cafe the client asked for paintings, 8 in all, of tropical garden scenes which were then placed in false window frames built around the restaurant walls.
Client asked for 'halliconia', a bright red tropical plant, to be included somewhere in all the scenes and then real halliconia was placed in the restaurant to create a connection between the inside and painted 'outside' spaces.
