The mural space here covered over 35 metres, along one wall running the full length of the restaurant. This wall was broken up with large windows. So the mural effectively comprised of 5 pillars and the connecting areas above each window.
Inspiration was drawn from the quote: 'Sine Bachio et Cerere Fridget Venus' meaning 'without wine and food love grows cold'.
The theme depicted a feast pertaining to 'the last supper' with 'all things Italian' shown, buildings ( he Rialto Bridge, Tower of Pisa, the Vatican etc ) with mythical idols ( Venus & Bacchus, the god of wine) and contemporary figures ( the Pope, a footballer, a gangster, a Vatican guard ).
A table running the full length of the wall was the centre of the interest with the characters gathered seated or standing around this, the surfaces laden with food and wine. This table was painted at the same level as the actual tables in the restaurant so as to make the dinners feel as if they are joining these painted characters in the feasting.
